The Unspoken Curriculum
Everything about kidney disease, dialysis, and transplant that nobody sat you down to explain. Fourteen days. One hundred scenarios. Zero brochure talk.
Patients and care partners are taught to count fluid, memorize lab ranges, and show up on time. They are not taught who profits from the chair, what federal rules govern the clinic, why a kidney sits on ice for hours and then gets thrown away, or how to file a grievance without losing their treatment slot. That omission is not an accident. A population that does not understand the system cannot challenge it.
The Unspoken Curriculum closes that gap. It covers the history, the economics, the regulations, the ethics, and the philosophy of kidney failure in the United States — the material that sits behind the brochure. It is built for people who have never been asked what they think, and who are more than capable of thinking.
This is not a test of memorized trivia. Every question places you inside a real situation — a discharge threat, an organ offer, a conversation about stopping treatment, a care partner who has disappeared into the role — and asks you to reason your way to the structurally sound answer. Each answer comes with an explanation and its source. You learn from every question, whether you get it right or not.
The course serves three purposes: to protect the person in the chair, to protect the person holding everything together at home, and to equip both to turn lived experience into documented, submitted, undeniable evidence. That is how a legacy outlasts a diagnosis.
How chronic treatment reshapes identity, decision-making, grief, power, and fear — and how to recognize when those forces are steering your choices.
Choice, finitude, meaning, the weight of a gift from a stranger, and the right to decide how your own story ends.
The laws, money, metrics, and institutions behind every decision made about you — and the precise mechanisms that let you answer back.
Read one lesson a day, or several in one sitting. Your progress saves automatically in this browser. The quizzes are open-book by design: the lessons contain everything you need.
Seven days per week. Each lesson ends with a reflection prompt and its sources.
Week 1: dialysis, its history, its economics, your rights, your body, your self.
Week 2: the transplant system, living donation, care partners, voice and legacy.
Score 80 or more out of 100 across both parts and your certificate generates instantly.
Open each day, read the lesson, answer the reflection for yourself, and mark it complete. Questions in the quiz are tagged by day so you can return to the lesson behind any answer.
Choose an answer. A green check means you reasoned it correctly; if not, the correct answer lights up green and the explanation shows you why. Answers lock once chosen. Take the parts in either order.
Complete both parts with a combined score of 80 or higher. Your personalized CIF certificate generates on the spot with a unique verification ID — ready to download, print, or share on LinkedIn as proof that you understand kidney disease, dialysis, your treatment options, and the transplant system at a level most people inside it never reach.
