We listen, map where you are in the process, and tell you the next three honest steps. Longer sessions are billed by the hour.
20-minute orientation call and a personal roadmap.
$20
per hour, extended sessions
Twelve ways we help patients, living donors and care partners. The basics are always free. When a request takes real work, a small, posted rate applies, scaled to what things cost where you live, so the free parts stay free for everyone.

SHARE IT. SAVE IT. SEND IT TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS IT.
Everything starts free. If you want us to do the work with you or for you, the cost rises with the effort, never with who you are or what you want us to say.

A family in a low-cost area should not pay what a family in a high-cost city pays. So every base price is scaled to your area: your price = base price × your area’s cost-of-living index ÷ 100. We use the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis Regional Price Parities (RPP), where 100 is the national average.
Index values are from BEA’s published Regional Price Parities (2022–2023 releases; the year is shown with each state). Do not see your state or city? Look up your state or metro area on the BEA table and choose “My area”, or just tell us your ZIP code and we will confirm the index and quote your price in writing. Prices are rounded to the nearest dollar.
These are base rates for an area at the U.S. average cost of living. Your price is scaled to where you live (above). Anything custom is quoted in writing before work begins, and you can say no at any point before then.
Patients, living donors, care partners and their families.
Nonprofits, patient groups, schools, media, law firms and public officials.
Tell us in your request. Hardship requests are reviewed, and often free.
That is how independence works in practice: no one who profits from patients’ care buys our time. Paying clients never get editorial control.
We do not accept donations. We take no funding of any kind from drug, biologic, medical-device or pharmaceutical companies, dialysis organizations, insurers, hospital systems, or any advocacy organization funded by them. We charge fees only for services you request, at posted rates, and fees never buy influence over what we research or say.
No. We are advocates, writers and researchers. Nothing we provide is medical, legal, tax or financial advice. Letters and briefs are advocacy documents you review and sign. For medical advice, talk to your healthcare team, and in an emergency call 911.
No. Fees pay for our time on your request. They never buy influence over our research, our conclusions or what we say about anyone.
We start from a base price and scale it to your local cost of living using the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis index for your state or metro area. A family in a lower-cost state pays less than the base; a family in a higher-cost area pays somewhat more. We confirm the number and quote it in writing before any paid work starts.
Ask. Say so in your request and we will review it. The free tools, guides and one orientation call are always available.
Send a request through the contact page. Tell us what you need and the deadline. We reply with what is free, what would cost, and a written quote before any paid work starts.
We’ll tell you what’s free, what would cost, and the next honest step.
Rates are starting prices for typical requests and may change. A written quote is provided before any paid work begins. No outcome is guaranteed.
